So we had dinner…

It is the Lunar New Year eve so the boys decided to have our own ‘reunion dinner’. You know, that stereotyped family dinner that happens on the eve of every major holiday (christmas, eid, etc). It wasn’t a big affair, we had dinner in Bedok and stuffed our hearts away with food that could probably clog our arteries.

The protocol of our hangouts includes a chill-out session somewhere ulu/rural like the offbeat paths of punggol jetty. Tonight we went to a newly discovered spot, where they brought me to days after my accident, Pulau Punggol Timor.

When i was there in the day, it seemed like we’ve uncovered a gem. Away from the city and away from road traffic. I could do with a good cuban cigar and just sit there, facing the sea, all day!

Tonight was a different story.

After the artery clogging dinner we bought some drinks and decided to check out the place again to chill-out. Driving in was kinda hard because somebody didn’t pay the bills. It was total darkness. We finally reached the destination and got our asses off walking towards the spot that we went to previously. It is a good 5 minutes walk to be able to get a great view. Settled down, ate some chips and had a good chat and laughing away. M was lying down all this while. Probably after 30mins of chatting and laughing, M stood up and said “hey remember the other route we saw the other day, let’s try it out and maybe we can chill out there”. I was too lazy to move but he was really insisting on his plan. I succumbed to it and there we were, tracking the greens of Pulau Punggol Timor in pitch dark.

After a wholesome (and exciting) Bear Grylls experience we finally got to civilisation (ie. roads) and trekked (again!) all the way back to the car. While walking M asked “you guys know why we need to get the hell outta there, right?” E said “i think i know what you’re talking about, but lets talk about it when we get the hell outta here”. That left S and me stumped, not knowing what was going on.

We drove off to Yishun Dam and started talking. Apparently M heard footsteps while he was lying down. The footsteps weren’t faint. They sound as though someone walked pass M real close. That made him stood up and suggest we go somewhere else. While trekking in the somewhat dense vegetation, E claimed he heard some wailing. He kept saying that he can’t describe how it sounded like but his face was really telling it all. We continued chatting and sharing spooky stories encountered by one another.

We made a knights-of-the-round-table promise not to ever step into that area again. Sounds drastic, yes, but we prefer chilling out without any supernatural ‘disturbance’.

So M sent everyone home and i got myself locked out for an hour because i didn’t bring my keys. I think my mom being pissed mad at me (for waking her up at 3am) was equally horrifying with today’s encounter.
